The young dutch Pantano Team driver Tihjs Keeren has made his 2020 debut in the Italian ACI Karting season this week end at Sarno attending the second round of the series promoted by ACI Sport. Against almost 50 drivers entered in the new Mini Gr.3 category the dutch has been very fast most of the week end, despite he was not racing since some weeks. Since the free practices he had the same pace as the Top 10 drivers scoring a 7th spot overall in the qualifying session which has allowed him to start both the heats from the third row (5th) of the grid. In the two heats the Pantano Team driver was very consistent scoring a 5th and 6thposition which moved him in the 6th position of the Race 1 grid. Unfortunately the first race on Sunday was pretty unlucky for him as after a good start he was involved in a racing contact ended with a spin which forced him to restart from the very last position. Despite a very good pace he ended the race only 28th: due to this result he had to start the second race from the bottom of the grid. His racing attitude was anyway so determinated and allowed him to make an incredible comeback until the 14th spot under the chequered flag.
Giorgio Pantano: “It was a pity for Tihjs to be involved in Race 1 in accident which has compromised the whole week end. Until that moment he was very quick and able to fight at the same level of the top drivers of the category. It’s all about luck and experience and racing a lot helps to understand how to handle the hot racing moments.”
