The 2020’s season is kicked off and the new team owned by the former F1 driver Giorgio Pantano made its debut in the first race of the WSK series calendar: WSK Champions Cup. At Adria Karting Raceway the Italian team has attended the first international event with a three drivers line up: Keeren (60 Mini), Kamenink (60 Mini) and the experienced Ressico d’Aloisio.
With almost 80 competitors the 60 Mini category has very spectacular since the first heats with the two Pantano Team’s drivers fully committed to the Final A. Keeren has shown a very big step ahead compared the 2019’s pace being able to keep fighting for the TOP 10 during the whole heats (9th, 21th, 5th and 4th). These results boosted him into the Pre Final started from th 5th row of the grid (9th). Fighting very hard the dutch driver kept the same position under the chequered flag moving onto the Final A. In the super final the young driver managed to get pass some drivers ending 14th overall which it’s absolutely a good result for a kid who just made his debut in the WSK series last year. Good performance too for Kamenik, rookie in the series, who has fought the all heats very strongly scoring a middle pack results but not getting the access to the Final A. For him a 14th spot in the Final B and a lot of experience collected looking forward the rest f the season.
In the OK category Ressico d’Aloisio made his debut trying to adapt his driving style to the new engine. The Italian talent was immediately quick enough to score a 6th place in one heat. In the Pre Final his race was super hard as after a racing contact he had to make a great come back from the latest positions grabbing an incredible 16th position under the chequered flag. In the Final, stating from the 32th spot the race wasn’t again easy at all for him but he managed a good come back scoring 21th. An overall good week end for the new Italian team looking forward now the upcoming WSK Super Master Series Round 1 which will take place at Adria next week end.
Giorgio Pantano: “Of course I would expected a better overall result but we are very happy because the pace was there. Keeren has improved a lot since last year debut with us showing a good potential, Kamenik was really skilled to fight very hard against some very experience drivers and Ressico shown a fast pace as well in his first OK races. We are confident for the future and I am glad about the job done by Kart Republic, IAME and our engine technicians.”
