The last round of the CIK FIA European Championship held at Wackersdorf last week end has been actually the best ever racing week end for the Pantano Team and its owner Giorgio Pantano since they started their new mission. Since the beginning of the season some unlucky situations had forced the team’s drivers to not achieve the results deserved but the finale of the CIK FIA has finally payed back all the big efforts putted so far during the 2020 season. In the OKJ category the English driver Sonny Smith has won one of the heats and scored a 4th overall in the Final after a very strong full week end on track. Race by race the English driver has improved and matured a lot during the season and now is definitely ready to keep fighting for the OKJ top positions. In the OK category the two finnish drivers, Pirthilathi and Valtanen, have been always on TOP fighting for the podiums in every heats. Pirthilathi, after scoring 3rd, 2nd, 8th and 4th in the heats, was fighting very hard for the podium when his chain got broken and a sad retire came up. Valtanen, always very quick and consistent, after a little breaking issue in one heat and after many very good scores (3,2,3) in the others, endend 5th overall in the Final. For the italian Lorenzo Ressico d’Aloisio an overall good week end with a final 22th position overall after a couple of TOP 10’s in the heats.
Giorgio Pantano: “Finally we’ve got the results we deserved but still the bad luck kicked out of the podium. Smith and Pirthilathi could have been easily on the podium but fir sure this great week end will boost them for the rest of the season. We are happy too for Valtanen and Ressico for their overall performances. Now onto the long WSK double header event at Lonato.”
