In the super hot circuit of Sarno Pantano Team has attended the second round of the CIK FIA European Championship with a six drivers (3 OK and 3 OKJ) line up. In the OK category the expert and fast Valtanen deployed a very solid performance setting the pole position during his group’s qualifying and scoring later 3 second places and one third during the heats. In the Final, starting from the first row (2nd), he tried hard to close the little gap with the pole sitter but he had a lack of pace ending the race only 10th overall. Lorenzo Ressico d’Aloisio was not in good shape and his physical condition has effected the overall performance excluding him from the Final start. Good week end for the finnish Pirttilahti who was very close to get into the Final but a DNF collected in the final heat, after some very good results, denied him from the final start. In the OKJ category Smith attended the Final but unfortunately he has been involved in a multiple crash after the start. The French driver Capietto had a good pace over the week end but has been penalized many times for the front fairing and these issues did not allow him to start the final. Last but not least the Swedish Abrahamsson kept improving his experience in the CIK FIA environment retiring twice during the heats but improving pretty much his overall pace.
Giorgio Pantano: “It was a shame for Valtanen as after some very solid results we’ve tried to improve our speed but we didn’t succeed. Anyway sometimes you need to try it to not regret later. We are sorry for Lorenzo who was not in good shape in the home race and for Smith involved in an accident right after the start. Now
